Ginger

Ginger is native to India and China and has been part of the traditional Chinese medicine for centuries. It was one of the earliest spice known in Western Europe, used since the ninth century. It became so popular in Europe that it was included in every table setting, like salt and pepper. Ginger has been used for many health related issues such as an aid to digestion and treat stomach upset, diarrhea, and nausea . Ginger is a warming herb and can be used for cold and flu as well as for reducing symptoms associated with motion sickness. It is also stated that Ginger may have a great benefit on certain cancer treatment such as Ovarian cancer treatments. A study conducted at the University of Michigan Comprehensive Cancer Center found that ginger powder induces cell death in all ovarian cancer cells to which it was applied.
 

Ingredients for easy potpourri


6 tbs peppermint leaves

2 tbs Marjoram leaves

4 Lemon balm leaves

4 tbs Rosemary leaves

1 tbs Sage leaves

1 tbs crushed Bay leaves

1 tbs Thyme leaves

2 tbs salt

1 tsp rosemary oil

1/2 tsp oregano oil



How to prepare


Place all the leaves in a dry warm space   and dry them until they all has become crisp.  Once dried places the leaves in a jar and put all the remaining ingredients in and mix it all without damaging the leaves. Secure the jar with a tight fitted lid and store for three weeks. The salt and the oil will enhance the aroma of the leaves and the potpourri will be ready to use.
